I’m sure everyone has heard of essential oils in some form or fashion. I use my Young Living oils on a daily basis, whether it be for allergies, to uplift my mood, or something else, I try to turn to oils first. Today I want to share with you 6 of my favorite oils.
Lavender was the first oil I really felt confident and safe in using. The smell of lavender holds a special place in my heart. When One Cute Cowboy and I got married, our friends and family threw lavender at us when we left, instead of bird seed or bubbles. The smell, to this day, still reminds me of leaving with him, hand-in-hand as Mr. & Mrs. I just love it.
Anyway, on with the oil! This is one of my favorites because it is so versatile! Traditionally it’s been known to balance the body and to work wherever it is needed. From stretch marks, to the cardiovascular system, to down-in-the-dumps, to wrinkles, to sleeplessness, this is a great oil.
This is one I diffuse every night, not only to help with sleep, but it’s part of my seasonal blend that I diffuse every night. This combination helps cool down the body’s inflammation. Lavender is also great for bug bites. It helps heal them, and keep them from itching. I’m one of those people who has some kind of crazy DNA that makes bugs looooovvve me, so I go through several bottles of lavender in the summertime. It’s also great for burns. It’s important that you use pure therapeutic grade oils when dealing with burns, or anything for that matter. Young Living oils are all pure therapeutic grade oils. Which means they are in their purest form from the origins they come from. I had a bad 2nd degree burn a couple of years ago, and it was Young Living’s Lavender that I trusted to use on it and heal it. I always, always have a bottle of Lavender on hand.
I absolutely love this oil! It smells so fresh and clean. It’s an antidepressant, antioxidant, and antiviral just to name a few. I love to diffuse this one when I feel like I’m in a funk. It helps uplift your mood and it’s just a bonus that it makes your house smell like you just got done doing a deep clean. It’s also a great air purifier for when you feel like your house has a funky smell, or if you have animals inside, this helps rid that pet smell sometimes those lovey-doveys put off.
Lemon is also a great cleaning agent. I use it in my sinks, my washing machine, and it’s great for my garbage disposal. I love love love Lemon! Put a drop in your water, and taste it’s bursting flavor!
I’m a lover of all types of mint. Peppermint being my favorite. Peppermint has been used to help with digestive systems for centuries, soothing digestive difficulties. It’s also great for head tension, digestive difficulties , motion sickness, and seasonal support. I use this in my diffuser a lot. Its a great one to mix with other scents to freshen things up. I also use this in my shower to help open up my sinuses, put it in my hot tea when I’m feeling under the weather, and sometimes just plain ‘ol diffuse it for a mood lifter. When I’ve had tummy trouble, putting a drop of this oil in a glass of water and drinking it has helped tremendously. I love peppermint!
This is the mother of all oils. It’s my go-to when I don’t know what else to use. It’s mentioned being used over 52 times in the Bible, and is considered a holy oil. This is an immune stimulant and overall great wellness booster. I diffuse it often at night in my nightly mix. It’s said to be a good emotional balancer which is gold in my books. This is also a good oil for anti aging, and problematic skin. One of my biggest uses for it, is when I have a tummy ache, I rub it on my stomach/abdomen and it helps relive pains. It’s also a great oil to diffuse while praying or concentrating, for it increases spiritual awareness. It’s an expensive oil, but one I find is well worth the money. I never let mine run out.
I absolutely love the smell of this oil. It does exactly what is says, it melts stress away. If you read about this oil on Young Living it states,

To me, that says it all. It comes in a handy roller bottle so I love to keep this one in my purse so when I’m feeling overwhelmed or stressed, no matter where I am, I can roll a little bit across the back of my neck or my wrists and breathe in it’s lovely scent. This is a compound oil, consisting of: Copal (or Capaiba), Lime, Cedarwood, Ocotea, and Lavender. These oils have healing properties of anti-inflammation, lifting depression, aiding in emotional balance, and relaxation, just to name a few.
Last, but not least Sacred Mountain. I love this woodsy blend. This is a blend of 4 different oils. Spruce, which helps ground the body, creating balance, helping one release emotional blocks. Ylang Ylang helping balance the male & female energies. It brings feelings of joy, self-love, and peace. Fir helps the feelings of empowerment, and Cedarwood, which was traditionally used by indians to enhance their spiritual communication. This combination gives off a really positive vibe, that I love. It helps when I’m feeling a little off-kilter to diffuse this oil. Especially when I’m feeling out of sorts, or emotionally drained. It has a nice woodsy smell to it, and I love diffusing this one on a rainy day. Also, a great one to diffuse during prayer,meditation, or your daily devotional time. The conifer oils have been traditionally used by the North American Indians symbolically to represent the umbrella they create in protecting the Earth and bringing energy in from the universe. At night, the animals in the wild lie under the trees for the protection, recharging, and rejuvenation the trees bring to them.
Oils can be a powerful thing, they’ve been used for centuries, and I’m a firm believer in their powers.

**Keep in mind, I am not a doctor, I am not a homeopathic guru, I’m just sharing what’s worked for me and my family. I highly recommend consulting with a doctor before orally consuming any oil. Also, I don’t recommend using straight oil on the skin if you’ve never used that particular oil before. When using an oil for the first time I always recommend using it with a carrier oil like Coconut oil or any vegetable based oil, for it may show skin irritants otherwise. Cinnamon bark is a potent oil along with Clove. Always keep in mind while using oils to use sparingly. Lastly I am not saying these oils will cure any ailment, I’m simply stating that these are oils that have worked for me.**
